 The
Asian Regional Energy Initiative of the IEI
The International
Energy Initiative (IEI) is a non-governmental, public-purpose
international organisation, established with the purpose of
promoting the efficient production and use of energy, towards
sustainable development. IEI was formally incorporated as a
not-for-profit organisation in September 1991.
The Asian Regional Energy Initiative (REI), under a regional
Director, was established in 1992, operating from Bangalore. At
the Asian REI, we have widened our objective from promoting energy
efficiency and fuel shifts, to extending improved energy services
to the disadvantaged. This involves both in-house analysis and
outreach efforts. Our activities include data collection and
research, followed by the design and implementation of
locally-tailored units, integrating more efficient and cleaner
energy services with improved livelihood.
